Hello everyone! This is going to be my last blog post as it is the end of my internship here at Stephano Slack. This past week was a busy one and I was assigned different tasks to be completed. One example is that a client had asked to see its profits from the year they were founded, both book numbers and tax numbers. For the book numbers, I pulled the information from the client’s binder in the engagement software and for the tax numbers I had to go into the tax software to pull the numbers from the tax returns of each year.  Another assignment I was asked to do was to create a trial balance for another client. The difference with this client is that they were operating on a quarterly basis and for this trial balance I was asked to show the 4 prior periods leading up to this current period.

It is amazing how the time has passed and how much I have learned in such a short amount of time here at Stephano Slack. I can’t stress enough how appreciative I am of this opportunity and I would like to thank the partners and managers for giving me this opportunity. I remember walking into the firm on June 2nd anxious and nervous, with no hands-on accounting experience, and now it is August 22st and now I have had a ton. I can confidently say that I am experienced with the programs used by the firm such as Engagement, ProSystems Tax, ProfitCents, and much more. With these I have had hands-on experience with creating and revising trial balances, preparing tax returns, preparing analytics for a review or audit, and a lot more. It is amazing how much I have learned from the first day to the last day.

What really makes the firm is the group of people here that come every day with positive energy, every single day. There hasn’t been a day where I have heard or seen anyone with the outlook of, “Well, today is just one of those days…”, that is never the attitude here. The section of the office where I sit, I am surrounded by great individuals that are always willing to help Jay and I, whenever we experience a small problem or even if it is just a question about something we are working on and learning about. I have heard Mike Stephano say to employees continuously, “Communicate with each other, make yourself and your partners better.” The experience and time here at Stephano Slack is priceless, and I would like to thank everyone at the firm for everything they have done. Thank you!

From here I will be going back to school at Philadelphia University to receive my MBA and to complete a review prep course for my CPA. While there I will be working in the Athletic Department as a graduate assistant. Jay, my fellow intern, will be finishing his final year at Delaware Valley College, so I also wish him the best of luck. All of the qualities I have learned here such as communication among the staff, completing tasks in a timely manner, and helping anyone who needs of assistance will definitely be transferred over while working in the athletic department. This experience really has been great for me and I can’t wait to see what’s next in store.

Thanks for listening and I hope everyone has a great rest of the summer!
