Busy Season is in Full Swing

I finally understand what busy season is all about. I am the newest intern in the Wayne Office and it’s a stressful time, but everyone still manages to laugh and stay positive.

This is my first busy season and I couldn’t have asked for a better place to intern. I learn a lot of things every day, from tips to complete a return efficiently to checking over my work. It was a tough process to begin, but it gets easier with every project I complete.

I started out working on updating client profiles and attaching their files to the client’s document. In between that, I worked on a couple trial balances for a couple small companies. It is a huge relief when it balances; otherwise “it is like looking for a needle in a haystack”.  I am now working on Pro Forma returns for new clients. This is probably the area where I have learned the most. I look through the client’s work papers in order to accurately complete the return. This is a very important step because the Pro Forma returns are what we use as a guide to ensure the return is being completed in a similar and accurate way.

Being both a student and intern, it is great to be able to bring the things from work to class and vice versa. It allows me to bring my experience to the table and have an advantage over another student. What I learn at Stephano Slack is valuable information that I will use to begin my career.

Lastly, being the newest intern at the Wayne Office was extremely intimidating at first, but after a couple of days I became comfortable because of the people I work with. Everyone is always willing to help and also goes the extra mile to explain why it is one way and not another.
