Stephano Slack Employees Put on their Santa Hats
WAYNE, PA – DECEMBER 20, 2018 – Stephano Slack LLC, a leading regional accounting and consulting firm, teamed up with Devereux Behavioral Health for this year’s “Operation Santa.” The firm’s Service Team and other employees purchased and wrapped gifts, then delivered them to Devereaux earlier today for children who are in their programs over the holidays.
Devereaux’s Children’s Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Services (CIDDS) Center serves children with autism spectrum disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and behavioral and emotional disorders, from birth to age 21. Services include a full-time residential program as well as other social services and a day school.
“These kids face moment to moment challenges and it’s heartbreaking to think of them missing out on the joy of the holidays. It is a privilege to be a part of this program and very rewarding to bring some happiness their way,” said Andrew Block, senior tax accountant and one of the Stephano Slack’s Service Team founders. “All of us recognize how fortunate we are, and we’re happy to be able to help.”
Stephano Slack’s generous employees fulfilled the first gift request list from Devereux and requested an additional list. In all, over 150 gifts were purchased for children and adults and more than 15 employees gathered for the team-building gift wrapping event yesterday.
In addition, the Team recently donated over $2500 to Bringing Hope Home, an organization dedicated to helping families with cancer. The funds were raised at the Service Team’s December Bowling Bonanza, where 30 employees and friends gathered for fun and charity.
Stephano Slack’s Service Team has built an impressive philanthropic profile since they launched in 2016 and their work has benefited many non-profits in the area. Their Drive for Five program raises funds annually for various charities through events, fundraising and employee payroll deduction options. In 2017, they raised over $7,600 that benefitted five charities: Parkinson’s Foundation, Bournelyf Special Camp, Colon Cancer Coalition, Ronald McDonald House and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. In addition, firm members have assisted in building a home through Habitat for Humanity and volunteered at Special Olympics events around the region.
“The Service Team’s original goal was to spearhead efforts to give back to the communities in which we work, but the enthusiasm and camaraderie our Service Team has quickly built is a wonderful add-on,” said Michael J. Stephano, Managing Partner. “I’m very proud of how all our employees have stepped up, not just this holiday season but all year.”
In addition to Block, the Service Team includes Christine Guyer, Matt Kardish, Kayleen Kane and Jess Yothers.
“It’s a great way for employees to bond and get to know the partners outside of the office environment. For prospective employees, becoming familiar with our Service Team shows them the firm’s commitment to helping others, which in turn is an indicator of its dedication to its employees,” Block added.
