Hello everybody. I have been back here at Stephano Slack LLC for about three weeks now. I can definitely say that tax season has officially started. Since I have been back, I have been working on a variety of tasks including tax returns. I have done a 1040, 1041, 1065 and 990 so far, which is accounting speak for Individual, Trust, Partnership and Non-Profit tax returns. I finished the 990 today; it was the first time ever doing one for me. It was a little intimidating but I had the previous year’s return to go back to and look at to use for guidance. Other than tax returns I’ve done some admin work such as updating project IDs in WorkStream and scanning files and putting them into document so they don’t get lost.

The first big difference I noticed between my fall semester and spring semester “busy season” internships here is that it seems like people work a lot more. I’ve been told that people stay until 9 or 10 most nights. Also, everyone works Saturdays including the interns. I worked my first Saturday the weekend before last, it was great. Stan had a conference he called the Wielgus wonderful world of tax for newer people who would be preparing returns which I was able to attend. We were going to have the conference the week before but there weren’t enough company snow shoes for everyone to make the meeting in the blizzard.

I am excited for this season I’m sure I’m going to get lots of good tax return experience. I’m very happy with how this internship has turned out so far. I’ve been learning lots from everyone working here. Everyone here is very nice and I feel very comfortable with asking them questions. Stan will sometimes see me getting bored doing scans and take pity on me by helping me out with a challenging task.
